HVAC Preventive Maintenance

Maintaining Your HVAC System

The HVAC system is a technical unit that has many inner mechanical and electrical components. Keeping your HVAC system is essential to keep it running smoothly. Maintenance is also important for the long term of your system. This can help it last beyond its expected lifespan, which is between 15 – 20 years. Here at 888HVAC, we recommend having a preventive maintenance plan. You can even contact our company so that we can agree on a plan between yourself and our technicians.

Ideal Maintenance Times

When it comes to performing maintenance on any cooling or heating unit, the end of the spring or fall months would be ideal. This is because our techs will be able to optimize your system just in time before harder temperatures arrive at your location. You want your HVAC to be ready for those cold, freezing temperatures in the winter or the hot summer months. We also recommend plenty of time to work on your maintenance routine in case any bigger issues arise for your system, such as needed repairs.

What is Involved in Routine Maintenance?

Many things are involved in a routine maintenance. Our techs will usually begin by checking the system’s cooling and heating power. Next, we’ll clean or replace the air filter in your system. This is especially important to do once every month or once every three months, depending on the HVAC model. If we’re doing maintenance near the summer months, we’ll check the refrigerant levels to ensure you’re ready for those hot temps. If we find any leaks in the line, we will have to repair them. In this case, a price quote is given to the customer for any repairs needed.

A Checklist is a Good Idea

Since a lot is done with maintaining an HVAC system, having a checklist is essential. Our techs will also clean and straighten condenser lines to enhance airflow throughout the system. Any ice formations or rust within the lines should be checked by our technician for optimal performance. We’ll also tighten and check any electrical connections to ensure they’re working properly. Any moving parts in the HVAC unit, both indoors and outdoors, should be lubricated. One of the last things we will clean is the drainage line. A clog of dust and debris within the line can cause an obstruction, which impedes drainage water to drain. If this happens, your unit won’t cool, and your coils could freeze over.

The Goal With Preventive Maintenance

What is the goal with preventive maintenance? Our goal is to minimize any sudden need for repairs. Since we know it can be an inconvenience, especially in uncomfortable temperatures, we aim to stop these repairs. However, units do fail from time to time, so you can rest easy knowing that we also offer a 24/7 emergency service for all of our customers. If you do need an emergency repair or maintenance, contact the 888HVAC company. We will send our techs out to your home right away.
